Accessories for the Honda CL500

The Honda CL500 brings scrambler styling to everyday journeys and relaxed rides along country roads. That mix gives accessories a practical role beyond changing its appearance. For commuting, the controls and protection against low-speed mishaps deserve attention; for longer outings, wind protection and somewhere to carry your belongings become more useful. A sensible setup reflects how often your CL500 tackles town traffic compared with time spent on the open road.

What riders usually fit to the Honda CL500

• Levers: Frequent clutch use in urban traffic makes the way your fingers reach the lever particularly relevant. On a CL500 used for commuting, lever shape is worth considering for how you operate the controls, rather than treating this as a purely cosmetic change.
• Mirrors: A clear view behind matters when your journey switches from city streets to faster roads. Mirrors also play a noticeable part in the CL500's scrambler look, so they offer scope to change its appearance while keeping rearward visibility central to the choice.
• Screens: When a weekend ride starts with a stretch of dual carriageway, a screen helps deflect some of the airflow reaching your upper body. It is a useful addition to consider when your CL500 spends longer on open roads rather than making short urban hops.
• Crash protectors and bars: Daily parking and low-speed manoeuvres are good reasons to consider protection that can help limit damage in a stationary drop. For a town-going CL500, these accessories serve a practical purpose rather than simply altering the scrambler styling.
• Luggage cases: Carrying work essentials calls for a different approach from packing for an overnight escape, but both give luggage a clear role. Cases let you organise what you take on the CL500 without carrying everything in a rucksack throughout the ride.
