Accessories for the Honda VFR 1200 FD

Long motorway stretches and a favourite winding road ask different things of a bike. The Honda VFR 1200 FD sits in the sports-touring camp, so its accessories make most sense when they support both uses. Wind protection matters on the journey out, while a comfortable riding position and secure footing remain useful once the road becomes more demanding.

What riders usually fit to the Honda VFR 1200 FD

• Screens: Sustained motorway riding makes airflow around your upper body and helmet particularly noticeable. A screen helps manage that exposure on longer journeys. Your height and normal riding position are useful starting points when deciding how much coverage suits your touring use.
• Handlebar accessories: The relationship between your hands and the controls matters when a ride lasts several hours. This area deserves attention if you want a riding position that feels comfortable on motorway sections without becoming awkward when you reach the bends.
• Footrests: A stable place for your feet is valuable when linking corners and shifting your position on the bike. For touring, the same contact point also needs to feel natural over longer stretches, rather than only during a short, spirited ride.
• Crash protection: Touring involves plenty of stops, from parking up for a break to manoeuvring outside overnight accommodation. Protectors and crash bars can help limit damage to the areas they cover if the bike tips over during those low-speed moments.
• Phone mounts: Navigation becomes especially useful when a weekend ride takes you onto unfamiliar roads or a longer trip involves several turn-offs. A mount keeps directions visible; set the route before departure so you do not need to handle the phone while riding.

For regular touring, give wind protection and riding position priority. If most of your mileage comes from weekends on winding roads, focus on your contact with the bars and footrests before purely cosmetic changes.
