Accessories for the Honda VTX1800

The Honda VTX1800 is a cruiser made for unhurried time on the road, whether that means an afternoon ride or a longer journey. How much wind you face, how comfortable you feel after several hours and how the bike looks all influence what is worth fitting. For the 2001–2006 VTX1800, it makes sense to start with the way you actually ride rather than treat every accessory as an automatic upgrade.

What riders usually fit to the Honda VTX1800

• Screens: on open roads, a screen can take some of the wind off your upper body. That becomes particularly useful when your VTX1800 is covering longer distances and you want to stay relaxed in the saddle rather than spend the ride bracing against the airflow.
• Mirrors: these are prominent details on a cruiser, so a change can affect both the view behind you and the bike’s appearance. Think about the sightline from your usual riding position, especially when joining a road or keeping track of traffic on a shared ride.
• Protectors: rides do not consist entirely of open roads. Parking, turning around and moving through town are part of using the VTX1800 too. Protection for exposed areas is worth considering if low-speed knocks are a concern on the routes and stops you make most often.
• Stands and side stands: a suitable support matters when the ride is over as well as when you are tending to the bike between outings. If cleaning and looking after your VTX1800 are part of your routine, consider where you normally park it and which tasks you regularly do there.

A screen suits days spent out on the road; mirrors and protectors may matter more when your rides involve town traffic and frequent stops. The right starting point depends on which of those moments feels most familiar on your VTX1800.
