Accessories for the Indian FTR 1200 Rally

The Indian FTR 1200 Rally brings flat track-inspired style to everyday road riding, from trips across town to weekends on winding roads. The accessories that make sense depend on the balance between those uses. Longer journeys put wind protection and riding position higher on the list, while regular urban riding makes comfortable controls and protection against low-speed mishaps particularly useful.

What riders usually fit to the Indian FTR 1200 Rally

• Screens: a screen helps divert some of the airflow when reaching your favourite roads involves a stretch of dual carriageway. For the FTR, the aim is to balance useful coverage with its uncluttered style, rather than expect the shelter of a touring motorcycle.
• Levers: frequent braking and gear changes put the hand controls firmly in focus on a Rally used for commuting. Lever shape and reach deserve attention here: a comfortable relationship between your fingers and the controls matters more in traffic than a decorative finish.
• Handlebars and footpegs: these let you tailor the riding position and contact points for the way you use the bike. On a road-going FTR, consider comfort during the journey out as well as your position when the route becomes a succession of bends.
• Protectors and crash protection: intended to help limit damage from certain impacts or low-speed falls. They have a practical role on a Rally regularly manoeuvred into parking spaces or used around town, rather than being relevant only to weekend riding.
• Mirrors and number plate holders: mirrors affect both the bike’s outline and your view of following traffic during urban journeys. A replacement number plate holder focuses on the rear-end finish, making it a relevant styling choice for an FTR whose flat track influence you want to emphasise.
