Accessories for the Kawasaki KX450F

The Kawasaki KX450F is a motocross bike built for dirt tracks, jumps and changing conditions under its wheels. How you ride it matters when choosing accessories: protecting exposed areas, keeping the controls ready for the next session and making work in the paddock easier are more relevant here than touring equipment. Whether you ride regularly or only get to the track now and then, it helps to consider what happens both on the course and between runs.

What riders usually fit to the Kawasaki KX450F

The most useful additions reflect the demands of motocross rather than road riding. These accessory types address different parts of a day with the KX450F:

• Protectors: help shield exposed areas from knocks when riding on dirt or after a fall. They make particular sense on a motocross bike that encounters ruts, loose ground and the occasional unexpected landing during a session.
• Stands and side stands: give you a way to support the bike while you work on it away from the track. A stable place to leave the KX450F is useful when checking it between runs or getting it ready before heading out again.
• Levers: are the controls your hands return to throughout a lap, including when you are standing on the pegs. They are also worth considering when getting the bike back into shape after a tumble, rather than treating them as an afterthought.
• Suspension: deserves attention if you want to tailor the bike's response to the ground you ride on. Bumps, ruts and jumps all put it to work, so this is an area with a direct bearing on how the KX450F feels around a motocross track.

Think about whether your priority is riding through rough sections, dealing with the occasional knock or making paddock work simpler. That gives you a clearer starting point for choosing accessories for your KX450F.
