Accessories for the Kawasaki Vulcan 500

The Kawasaki Vulcan 500 is a custom cruiser suited to unhurried rides, whether you use it for everyday journeys or head out on the open road. That mix of riding makes visibility, wind protection and comfort worth thinking about when choosing accessories. The handlebars, mirrors and screen also play a noticeable part in the look of a cruiser, so practical choices can shape how the bike feels as well as how it looks.

What riders usually fit to the Kawasaki Vulcan 500

• Mirrors: help you set up a view behind that works with your riding position. On the Vulcan 500, that matters when keeping track of traffic through town or checking the next lane before a move on a longer road ride.
• Protectors: make sense if your cruiser regularly has to negotiate tight parking spots and low-speed manoeuvres. They add a measure of protection for the bike when a relaxed ride ends with a less relaxed squeeze into a space.
• Handlebars: affect where your arms and shoulders sit, which becomes more noticeable as a journey goes on. They are worth considering if you use the Vulcan 500 for both short trips and leisurely weekend miles.
• Screens: can take some of the wind off your upper body on open roads. That is particularly useful when your usual ride includes extended stretches outside town rather than just brief hops between local stops.
• Covers and blankets: are useful when the bike spends time parked between rides. A cover helps keep the Vulcan 500 sheltered while it waits for the next outing, whether that is tomorrow's journey or a weekend ride.

Start with the part of riding you most want to improve: awareness and manoeuvring in town, or a more comfortable position and less wind on the road.
