Accessories for the Kawasaki ZR-7S

The Kawasaki ZR-7S is a versatile road bike suited to commuting, weekend rides and longer trips. Choosing accessories starts with how you split your time between those uses. A bike ridden through town every morning puts the emphasis on riding position and controls, while weekends further afield give luggage a more important role.

What riders usually fit to the Kawasaki ZR-7S

• Handlebars: the bar shape affects your reach to the controls and the position of your upper body. For a ZR-7S used both in traffic and on open roads, consider a riding position that feels manageable during slow manoeuvres without becoming awkward over longer distances.
• Levers: reach and finger contact matter when your commute involves repeated clutch use at junctions and traffic lights. For weekend road riding, the same controls need to feel comfortable with your usual gloves, so lever shape deserves attention beyond its appearance.
• Mirrors: a clear rearward view is particularly useful when your ZR-7S commute includes busy streets and multi-lane roads. Think about where the mirrors sit in relation to your shoulders; a compact look is less useful if your arms dominate the view behind.
• Protectors and crash bars: these can help limit damage from a stationary drop or low-speed fall. They make sense for an everyday road bike that is regularly parked and manoeuvred, particularly when you also handle it with luggage aboard during trips away.
• Luggage cases: carrying clothes and other belongings on the bike means you need not rely on a rucksack for a road trip. Cases also become useful when riding the ZR-7S with a pillion, giving you space to organise both riders’ belongings for a weekend away.

Before changing your riding position, consider both the stop-start part of your commute and your longest uninterrupted road rides: they can place different demands on comfort.
