Accessories for the KTM 1090 Adventure R

The KTM 1090 Adventure R is an adventure bike suited to journeys that carry on beyond the tarmac. A trip might involve motorway miles, winding back roads and unpaved tracks, each placing different demands on your setup. Useful additions therefore go beyond carrying luggage: protection, support when riding standing up and wind management all have a part to play.

What riders usually fit to the KTM 1090 Adventure R

• Protectors and crash bars: uneven tracks and slow manoeuvres make protection against knocks and falls particularly relevant. It also earns its place on longer trips, when moving a loaded 1090 Adventure R around a stopping point can make a simple loss of balance more awkward.
• Footrests: riding on loose surfaces often means switching between sitting and standing. The support beneath your boots affects how you hold your position and shift your weight, making footrests worth considering for days with substantial stretches away from surfaced roads.
• Screens: reaching the trails can involve a lengthy motorway run, so wind protection still matters on an off-road-focused adventure bike. A screen helps manage airflow towards your upper body on these connecting sections and during longer road-based journeys.
• Luggage: space for clothing, tools and overnight essentials turns a day out into a multi-day trip. For mixed-surface riding, keeping the load modest is useful: taking only what you need makes luggage less of a burden once the road ends.
• Phone mounts: keeping navigation in view is helpful when a route links minor roads with unfamiliar tracks. A mount gives your phone a dedicated position rather than leaving it in a pocket between junctions; stop before making changes to the route.

When arranging your luggage, preserve the space you need to move while standing. On mixed-terrain journeys, being able to change riding position freely is just as important as finding room for your overnight kit.
