Accessories for the KTM 1190 Adventure R

The KTM 1190 Adventure R suits journeys that mix open roads with unsurfaced tracks. Preparing it for that combination means thinking beyond luggage capacity. Wind protection matters on motorway stretches, while protection and room to move become priorities once you leave the tarmac. The most useful accessories reflect the balance between long-distance riding and time spent exploring trails.

What riders usually fit to the KTM 1190 Adventure R

• Protection: Loose stones and low-speed falls are worth considering when your route heads off road. Protecting exposed areas is particularly relevant to an Adventure R used on remote tracks, where even a minor incident can interrupt a day's riding.
• Footpegs: Switching between sitting and standing is a regular part of trail riding. Footpeg grip and the support beneath your boots matter when riding over uneven ground, helping you establish a steady stance rather than relying on the handlebars for support.
• Screens: A long motorway run to reach the trails puts wind protection high on the list. For mixed road and off-road trips, consider airflow around your upper body alongside a clear view of the surface ahead when the route becomes rougher.
• Panniers: Multi-day journeys call for somewhere to carry clothing and travel essentials. On this adventure bike, useful luggage capacity needs to be balanced against overall width and the space your legs need when you stand up on the pegs.
• Handlebars: Seated road miles and standing trail sections place different demands on your riding position. Handlebar choice is relevant to finding a comfortable reach to the controls in both situations, without having to stretch or crouch awkwardly.

Before a loaded trip that includes trails, try your standing position with the panniers fitted. You should still have room to shift your body without the luggage getting in the way.
