Accessories for the KTM 1290 Super Adventure R

The KTM 1290 Super Adventure R is an adventure bike suited to long road journeys with time spent away from the tarmac. Preparing it means balancing different priorities: luggage for nights away, wind protection for the miles between destinations and protection for rougher routes. The most useful additions depend on how much of your riding involves each.

What riders usually fit to the KTM 1290 Super Adventure R

• Panniers: give clothing and travel essentials a dedicated place on multi-day trips. If your journey includes unpaved tracks, start with what you actually need to carry rather than filling every available space with items you may never use.
• Protectors and crash bars: are worth considering when touring takes you onto uneven ground. They help limit damage to the areas they cover during knocks or falls, particularly relevant when negotiating awkward sections, though they cannot prevent every kind of damage.
• Screens: help manage wind exposure on longer road sections. For mixed-surface riding, wind protection needs to be balanced with a clear view of the ground ahead when you leave the tarmac and stand on the pegs.
• Foot pegs: provide an important contact point when switching between seated and standing riding. On trails, the way your boots sit on the pegs matters as you shift your body position to follow the terrain.
• Phone mounts: keep navigation directions in view during touring. They are particularly useful on journeys that link minor roads with trail access points, where finding the next turning is part of following your planned route.
