Accessories for the KTM 200 EXC

The KTM 200 EXC is an enduro bike built for riding away from tarmac. On trails, rocks, branches and low-speed falls can make exposed parts and controls a priority. Its accessories need to make sense for that setting: you may be standing on the pegs, shifting your weight for grip and using the brakes and clutch repeatedly as the ground changes beneath you. What matters on a trail is not necessarily what you would fit for a long road ride.

What riders usually fit to the KTM 200 EXC

Start with the sort of ground you ride most often. Narrow, overgrown tracks place different demands on the bike from open trails, while journeys that include public roads bring another consideration. These accessory types each have a practical role on the 200 EXC:

• Protectors: help shield exposed areas from knocks and scrapes caused by stones, branches or contact with the ground. On an enduro ride, even a slow tumble can put part of the bike against a rock or rut, making protection particularly useful when the route gets tight and uneven.
• Levers: braking and clutch control matter when negotiating slow corners, climbs and changes of surface. Suitable levers keep these controls within reach as you move between seated and standing positions, so you can concentrate on where the front wheel is going rather than adjusting your grip.
• Mirrors: are relevant if your rides include links on roads open to traffic. They let you check what is happening behind before turning or moving across the road, even when the main purpose of the outing is to spend time on the trails.

Think about the whole ride rather than just its most demanding section. Frequent brush-lined trails put protection high on the list; routes with road links make rearward visibility worth considering too.
