Accessories for the KTM 300 EXC TPI

The KTM 300 EXC TPI is an enduro bike built for riding away from tarmac. On a trail ride, loose stones, ruts and slow manoeuvres put a different set of demands on the bike than a long road journey. Protection and easy control tend to matter more than luggage or wind management. That makes the exposed parts of the bike, and the controls you use throughout a ride, sensible places to start when choosing accessories.

What riders usually fit to the KTM 300 EXC TPI

• Protectors: rocks and awkward footing are part of riding off road, particularly on narrow or uneven tracks. Protectors help reduce the risk of damage to the areas they cover, whether you are picking your way through a stony section or recovering from a minor tip-over.
• Levers: clutch and brake inputs come thick and fast when you are negotiating obstacles or controlling your pace downhill. Levers are worth considering both for how readily you can reach the controls and when an existing lever has been damaged in a fall.
• Handlebars: riding standing up calls for room to move and a comfortable relationship between your hands and the bike. Handlebar position affects how you steer through tight turns and shift your weight when the ground changes beneath the wheels.
• Stands and side stands: a stable support comes in handy after a muddy ride, when it is time to clean the bike or check the parts most exposed on the trail. It also makes routine attention between outings less awkward.
• Mirrors: some enduro rides include road stretches between trails. On those sections, being able to see traffic behind you matters in a way it might not on a route spent entirely off road.

Consider the ground you ride most often and how much of each outing you spend standing on the bike. Those details help you decide whether protection, controls or riding position deserves attention first.
