Accessories for the KTM 350 Freeride

The KTM 350 Freeride is an off-road bike suited to rides where open tracks give way to narrow trails and slower, more deliberate manoeuvres. That sort of riding puts different demands on accessories from a long road journey. Rather than focusing on luggage or wind protection, it makes sense to think about exposed parts, how you park on uneven ground and what you need to see when a route includes a stretch of road. For the 2014–2017 350 Freeride, a few practical choices stand out.

What riders usually fit to the KTM 350 Freeride

• Protectors: brushing past vegetation or catching a stone is more likely on a tight trail than on an open road. Protectors help shield the areas they cover from the knocks and scrapes that can come with riding off-road. They are worth considering if your rides include awkward sections where you have to slow right down, put a foot out or ease the bike through a gap.
• Stands and kickstands: a convenient place to stop on a trail may still have loose or uneven ground underfoot. Suitable support makes it easier to pause, check your route or take a break without having to hold the bike upright. Keeping the Freeride steady is useful at home too, especially when you are giving it attention after a muddy ride.
• Mirrors: even a ride centred on trails may involve roads between them. Being able to check what is behind you matters before turning or joining traffic, while your attention stays on the way ahead. Mirrors are therefore a practical consideration for riders who regularly link off-road sections by road; their position should also work with the way you sit on the bike.

Think about the ground you ride and the stops you make most often. A day on open tracks calls for a different emphasis from a route full of narrow passages and frequent pauses.
