Accessories for the KTM 390 Adventure X

The KTM 390 Adventure X suits a mix of weekday commuting, weekend road rides and outings along easy trails. How you divide your time between those rides should guide your accessory choices. Wind protection matters on longer stretches of tarmac, while foot support and protection become more relevant away from it. Luggage earns its place when a short ride turns into a few days away.

What riders usually fit to the KTM 390 Adventure X

• Windscreens: useful for motorway links and longer road journeys, where sustained wind exposure can become tiring. On an Adventure X used mainly on tarmac, managing airflow around your upper body is a practical starting point for a more comfortable touring setup.
• Foot pegs: worth considering when your routes include trails and you spend time standing up. The support beneath your boots matters in that position, but it also needs to suit the seated riding that makes up the road sections of a mixed-surface day.
• Handlebars: hand position affects the transition between sitting and standing. For this kind of adventure riding, the aim is a comfortable reach through town without leaving you awkwardly positioned over the bars when you stand on the pegs off-road.
• Crash protection and crash bars: slow manoeuvres and uneven trails make protection for exposed areas a sensible consideration. Depending on the area covered, these accessories can help limit damage from a stationary drop or a low-speed fall during a trail outing.
• Luggage: provides carrying space for overnight trips as well as everyday essentials. If your Adventure X handles both commuting and holidays, balance the room needed for travelling against the extra bulk you want to manage on daily urban journeys.

Treat the screen, handlebars and foot pegs as parts of the same setup. A comfortable seated position for road miles should still leave you room to move when the tarmac ends.
