Accessories for the KTM 450 EXC Racing

The KTM 450 EXC Racing is an enduro bike built for riding away from tarmac. On rough ground, loose stones, narrow tracks and frequent changes of pace shape what is worth fitting. Protection matters, but so do the controls you rely on when picking a line through difficult sections. If your rides include stretches of road, it is also worth thinking about what you need when sharing space with traffic.

What riders usually fit to the KTM 450 EXC Racing

• Protectors: stones, branches and low-speed falls are part of the demands of off-road riding. Protectors can help limit the effect of contact with exposed parts of the bike, particularly on rocky ground or where a trail leaves little room to manoeuvre. They make sense when your usual rides involve obstacles rather than smooth, open tracks.
• Levers: on an enduro ride, the clutch and brake are in constant use as you adjust your speed and balance. Levers matter when you are standing on the pegs, shifting your position or working through a tight turn. They are also vulnerable if the bike ends up on its side, making them worth considering alongside protection.
• Mirrors: getting to a trail may involve riding on public roads. Mirrors help you keep track of vehicles behind you on those connecting stretches, where the demands are different from riding off-road. Their value is easy to overlook if you focus only on what happens once you reach the dirt.

Think about the ground you ride most often and how much road riding forms part of the day. A rocky trail puts a different emphasis on accessories from a ride that regularly switches between tracks and tarmac.
