Accessories for the KTM 450 EXC-F

The KTM 450 EXC-F is an enduro bike suited to trails and off-road riding. On that sort of ride, stones, branches and low-speed spills tend to matter more than luggage capacity. Control matters too, especially when you are standing on the pegs, picking your way through rough ground or riding between off-road sections. The accessories worth considering depend on where you spend most of your time: technical tracks put exposed parts and the controls in focus, while road links bring wind and rearward visibility into the picture.

What riders usually fit to the KTM 450 EXC-F

• Protectors: loose stones, overhanging vegetation and the occasional awkward dab are familiar on an enduro ride. Protection for exposed areas is a practical consideration when your 450 EXC-F regularly encounters narrow trails and uneven ground.
• Levers: precise clutch and brake input helps when you are threading the bike through ruts or making tight turns at low speed. Levers deserve particular attention if your rides involve frequent changes between standing and seated riding.
• Screens: a screen can take some of the wind off you on open tracks and the road stretches between trails. It makes most sense when those connecting sections are a regular part of your route, rather than the whole point of the ride.
• Mirrors: when your day includes riding on the road, a view of traffic behind you is useful. On an enduro bike, mirror placement also matters when you stand up or pass close to branches along a narrow trail.

For technical riding, start with the parts most exposed to knocks and the controls you use constantly. If your outings involve longer road links, screens and mirrors may also be worth considering.
