Accessories for the KTM 450SX

The KTM 450SX lends itself to sporty riding, where the controls and exposed areas of the bike deserve particular thought. What is worth fitting depends on how you ride: on an outing with uneven ground or frequent changes of pace, protection serves a different purpose from a replacement lever. A mirror is useful for another reason altogether, helping you keep track of what is behind you. Start with the situations you regularly encounter rather than treating every accessory as equally important.

What riders usually fit to the KTM 450SX

• Protectors: these are worth considering for areas exposed to knocks and scrapes during demanding rides. If you use your KTM 450SX at a sporting pace, a protector gives contact a purpose-made surface to reach. Which area matters most will depend on the ground you cover and where your bike tends to come into contact with its surroundings.
• Levers: your hands work the controls repeatedly as you brake and manage the bike. When you spend time riding standing up or link together manoeuvres that call for careful inputs, the reach and feel at the levers can make a difference to comfort. They are particularly relevant if you want the controls to feel familiar throughout a longer session.
• Mirrors: these make sense when you ride with others or often need to see what is happening behind you. A glance in a mirror can be useful when a group is coming back together or when you are moving through an area shared with other people. Whether that matters on your KTM 450SX depends on the sort of outing you have planned.

The accessories here focus on protection, controls and rearward visibility. Give priority to the part of your ride that most often calls for your attention, rather than adding equipment without a clear purpose.
