Accessories for the KTM 450 SX-F

The KTM 450 SX-F is a motocross bike built for riding on dirt tracks. Jumps, ruts and changing surfaces keep the rider moving around the bike, so what you fit should reflect that kind of riding. Protection and the feel of the controls matter more here than luggage or long-distance comfort: the useful additions are the ones that support you when the track gets rough.

What riders usually fit to the KTM 450 SX-F

For motocross, it helps to consider what each accessory will do during a session, rather than simply adding more parts. These are the accessory types available for this model and the situations in which they make sense:

• Protectors: dirt riding exposes parts of the bike to flying stones, deep ruts and the occasional fall. Protection is worth considering on a machine that is regularly ridden over uneven ground, particularly where you want to limit the effects of knocks during practice or a day at the track.
• Levers: braking and clutch control are constant parts of riding a motocross course, from setting up for a corner to picking a line through bumps. Levers are worth thinking about in terms of how confidently you can reach and operate them while switching between seated and standing positions.
• Mirrors: they are not usually the first addition for a motocross session, where attention is on the course ahead. They can be useful if you need a view behind the bike in other riding situations. Whether they belong on your 450 SX-F therefore depends on how and where you use it.

For regular track riding, start with the parts that relate directly to control and protection on dirt. Rearward visibility serves a different purpose, so it is worth weighing against the way you actually ride.
