Accessories for the KTM 500 EXC-F Six Days

The KTM 500 EXC-F Six Days is an enduro bike built for riding away from tarmac. On trails and tracks, contact with the ground and the surroundings matters more than it would on a road-only ride. Yet getting to those trails may also mean spending time on the road. That mix helps determine which accessories are worth considering: protection for the rougher parts of the ride, and wind management when a route includes longer road links.

What riders usually fit to the KTM 500 EXC-F Six Days

The accessory types available for this bike address two different situations. Think about where you spend most of your riding time before deciding which deserves priority.

• Protectors: stones, branches and the occasional awkward manoeuvre are familiar parts of trail riding. Protectors help limit the exposure of vulnerable areas when the bike meets those obstacles. On the 500 EXC-F Six Days, their value is tied to the terrain you actually ride: narrow, uneven routes put different demands on the bike from an easy run along an open track.
• Screens: a screen can make road stretches more comfortable by taking some wind pressure off your upper body. That is particularly relevant if you ride to the trails or connect riding areas by road. Once you are standing and shifting your weight on technical ground, however, freedom of movement matters just as much as shelter from the wind.

For a day spent mainly off road, protection against contact with the terrain is the more obvious starting point. If your rides regularly include substantial road sections, a screen becomes easier to justify. The useful balance depends on your routes rather than on fitting accessories for every possible outing.
