Accessories for the KTM 990 Duke

The KTM 990 Duke is a naked bike that suits both everyday journeys and rides on winding roads. Those uses put different demands on its accessories: motorway stretches make wind protection worthwhile, town riding brings protection into focus, and twisty routes draw attention to how your hands and feet meet the bike.

What riders usually fit to the KTM 990 Duke

A useful starting point is the part of your riding that you would most like to improve. These accessory types address different sides of life with the Duke:

• Screens: sustained wind pressure is part of riding a naked bike on open roads. A screen can redirect some of that airflow, making it a useful addition when reaching your favourite riding roads involves a lengthy stretch of motorway.
• Protectors and crash protection: these help limit damage to the areas they cover in a stationary drop or low-speed fall. For a 990 Duke used around town as well as at weekends, parking and tight manoeuvres make protection a practical consideration.
• Levers: comfortable reach matters when you are repeatedly using the clutch through traffic or working the brake on winding roads. The relationship between your fingers and the controls deserves attention on a Duke that handles both commuting and more involved weekend riding.
• Footpegs: secure foot support helps when moving between bends, while peg position influences knee bend over longer distances. On a naked bike used for active road riding, this contact point is worth considering alongside comfort for the journey home.
• Number plate holders: the rear of a naked bike leaves plenty of its outline on show. A more compact holder can give the Duke a less cluttered appearance, making this primarily a styling choice rather than an answer to wind exposure or riding comfort.

If your Duke doubles as weekday transport, consider how changes to its contact points will feel in slow traffic too. A setup for winding roads still needs to suit your regular journey.
