Accessories for the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650

The Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 is a custom-style bike suited to everyday journeys and unhurried rides on the open road. What you fit depends on how those rides look in practice. Travelling light across town calls for a different approach from heading away for a full day with a change of clothes and other essentials. The right accessories can make either use more convenient while keeping the bike's distinctive character in mind.

What riders usually fit to the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650

For this bike, luggage, protection and routine maintenance are useful places to start. Each serves a different purpose, whether your Shotgun 650 spends more time on city streets or takes you out for a longer ride at the weekend.

• Luggage: cases give you somewhere to carry personal belongings without wearing a rucksack for the whole journey. That matters on a relaxed day trip, when you may want room for an extra layer, and on regular journeys when you have more to take than will fit in your pockets.
• Crash protection: guards and protectors add a measure of protection to exposed areas in a stationary drop or a low-speed mishap. They are worth considering if you often park on the street, manoeuvre the Shotgun 650 in tight spaces or stop frequently while exploring unfamiliar roads.
• Filters: these are part of looking after the bike rather than adding carrying space or changing how it looks. If your Shotgun 650 covers weekday miles as well as weekend rides, keeping up with filter maintenance is one way to give both kinds of journey the same attention.

Think about what your rides actually involve before deciding where to start. Extra carrying space helps when you head further afield, while protection may be higher on your list if most of your riding includes city parking and frequent stops.
