Accessories for the Suzuki DL1050XT V-Strom

The Suzuki DL1050XT V-Strom is an adventure bike with a strong touring focus, suited to long road journeys and weekends exploring further afield. The accessories that make sense depend on how you use it: daily commuting brings different priorities from a week away with a pillion. Wind protection, luggage and riding position are useful starting points when planning your set-up.

What riders usually fit to the Suzuki DL1050XT V-Strom

• Luggage: carrying clothes and travel essentials on the bike reduces the need for a rucksack during longer journeys. For two-up touring on the V-Strom, arranging your luggage also helps keep the space you and your passenger need clear of loose bags.
• Screens: help manage airflow on motorway stretches and long days on open roads. On a touring-focused bike like this, screen coverage needs to suit your height and seated position while allowing a clear view of the road ahead.
• Crash protection and bars: can help limit damage in some low-speed falls. They are particularly relevant when a loaded V-Strom needs to be manoeuvred into a parking space, turned around in a narrow entrance or brought to a stop on uneven ground.
• Handlebars and footrests: influence where your hands and feet sit throughout a ride. If your V-Strom journeys mix seated road riding with standing on occasional tracks, considering these parts together makes more sense than treating each contact point in isolation.
• Phone mounts: make navigation easier to consult when touring unfamiliar roads. Positioning matters on the V-Strom: the screen should remain visible without obscuring the instruments or restricting handlebar movement. Set your destination and make route changes while stopped, rather than on the move.

For commuting mixed with weekend trips, focus first on the needs that crop up most often. As longer two-up journeys become more frequent, give luggage organisation as much thought as your own riding position.
