Accessories for the Suzuki DL650XT V-Strom Explorer

The Suzuki DL650XT V-Strom Explorer is an adventure bike suited to road touring as well as everyday journeys. A ride might involve a motorway stretch, winding country roads and frequent stops with a pillion. That makes wind protection, a comfortable riding position and protection against low-speed drops useful priorities when deciding what to fit, rather than adding parts that do little for the way you ride.

What riders usually fit to the Suzuki DL650XT V-Strom Explorer

• Screens: wind protection matters most on the longer, faster stretches between destinations. A screen helps divert airflow away from your upper body. For touring on the V-Strom, consider screen height alongside your own height and your view of the road ahead.
• Crash bobbins and crash bars: these can help limit damage from a low-speed drop. They are particularly relevant to a touring adventure bike when turning in a confined space, parking on unfamiliar ground or making repeated stops along a route.
• Handlebars and footrests: hand position and foot support both shape your riding posture. On longer V-Strom journeys, these contact points deserve attention together: they affect how you hold your arms and legs through steady cruising and successive bends.
• Levers: comfortable reach and feel are worth considering when the bike handles both commuting and weekend trips. Regular clutch use in town puts the focus on finger position, while longer road rides make an awkward reach more noticeable.
• Phone mounts: having navigation in view is useful when touring unfamiliar roads or finding an overnight stop. A mount keeps route guidance accessible without reaching into a pocket; leave any interaction with the phone until you have stopped.

For longer tours, start with airflow and riding position. If most of your mileage is around town, comfortable controls and protection during parking manoeuvres may deserve attention first.
