Accessories for the Suzuki DL800 V-Strom SE

The Suzuki DL800 V-Strom SE is an adventure bike suited to road touring as well as everyday journeys. Accessories should reflect that mix: luggage for time away, wind protection for open roads and a riding position that works over longer distances. The most useful additions address the riding you do regularly, rather than preparing solely for one big trip each year.

What riders usually fit to the Suzuki DL800 V-Strom SE

• Luggage: cases make the V-Strom SE more practical for weekends away, carrying clothes and travel essentials without keeping everything in a rucksack. For a bike that also handles commuting duties, consider how much carrying space you need alongside the width of the luggage when parking.
• Screens: extra wind protection can be useful on motorway stretches between more interesting roads. For longer days on this touring-friendly Suzuki, screen choice should take account of your height and seated position, rather than simply opting for the tallest option.
• Crash bars and sliders: these can help limit damage in a low-speed fall, including a mishap while manoeuvring at a stop on a road trip. They are worth considering for everyday use too, when parking and tight turns are part of the routine.
• Footrests: the way your feet sit affects leg position over a full day's riding. If your routes combine winding roads with long connecting stretches, look for a supportive platform and a position that lets you operate the controls comfortably.
• Phone mounts: a mounted phone can provide navigation when a weekend ride takes you onto unfamiliar roads. Position it where it does not obscure the instruments or restrict handlebar movement, and set up your route while the bike is stationary.

When touring with a pillion, plan luggage around their space as well as your packing needs. For solo day rides, wind protection and riding posture may matter more than carrying capacity.
