Accessories for the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE

The Suzuki V-Strom 800DE is an adventure bike suited to road touring and exploring unsurfaced routes. Setting it up for that mix means balancing luggage space and wind protection with protection for trips away from the tarmac. Your riding position matters too, particularly if a day out involves switching between sitting on the road and standing on the pegs along trails.

What riders usually fit to the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE

• Panniers: useful for carrying clothing and equipment on multi-day trips without relying on a rucksack. For a V-Strom used on both roads and trails, plan the amount of luggage around the journey rather than carrying extra kit simply because there is room.
• Protectors and crash bars: worth prioritising if your routes regularly leave the tarmac, where low-speed tumbles are a possibility. They can help limit damage to the areas they cover, with different pieces protecting different parts of the bike rather than providing all-round protection.
• Screens: help deflect airflow on long road sections and motorway journeys. If you also take your V-Strom onto trails, balance wind coverage with a clear view of the ground ahead, especially when picking a line through ruts or around rough patches.
• Footpegs: the way your boots sit on the pegs becomes particularly noticeable when standing on unsurfaced routes. Peg shape and platform size affect foot placement and support as you shift your weight, while seated comfort still matters for the road miles between trails.
• Phone mounts: provide a practical place for a phone used for navigation on rides linking back roads and trails. They also make it easier to check your planned route once stopped, before choosing a turn or heading onto an unfamiliar track.

When travelling with a pillion, plan luggage placement around their space as well as your own, leaving room for them to get on and off comfortably.
