Accessories for the Suzuki GSX1400

Commuting during the week and heading out on winding roads at the weekend call for slightly different priorities on the Suzuki GSX1400. This naked road bike also lends itself to longer trips, where wind protection and luggage become more useful. The right accessories should reflect how you spend your time in the saddle, whether that means repeated stops in town or hours between breaks on the open road.

What riders usually fit to the Suzuki GSX1400

• Handlebars: bar height and sweep influence the position of your arms and back. For a GSX1400 used in town as well as on country roads, a comfortable reach helps you manoeuvre without stretching too far towards the controls.
• Levers: the shape and reach of the brake and clutch levers affect how your fingers sit on them. That matters particularly during a busy commute, when pulling away from junctions and changing gear become a repeated part of the ride.
• Screens: a screen helps redirect some of the airflow reaching your upper body on a naked bike. It makes particular sense when your favourite roads involve a motorway journey first, with screen height influencing coverage as well as appearance.
• Protectors: these can help limit damage to the areas they cover in a low-speed fall. They are worth considering for an everyday GSX1400 that regularly needs to be wheeled into parking spaces or manoeuvred through tight spots.
• Luggage cases: carrying clothes and other essentials becomes more practical when a Sunday ride turns into a weekend away. For commuting, cases also offer an alternative to a rucksack, keeping the load off your back during the journey.

When travelling with a pillion, plan luggage around their space too. Carrying everything you need should not come at the expense of leaving them room to sit comfortably and get on the bike.
