Accessories for the Triumph Thruxton 1200 RS

The Triumph Thruxton 1200 RS combines café racer style with a sporting approach to road riding. Winding weekend routes are a natural setting for it, but everyday journeys bring different priorities. Accessories can help you focus on the contact points that matter when riding, add some shelter from the wind or preserve the bike’s classic look. For regular town use, protection against minor mishaps also deserves attention.

What riders usually fit to the Triumph Thruxton 1200 RS

• Levers: frequent clutch use in traffic and repeated braking on winding roads put the hand controls at the centre of the ride. Lever shape and reach matter when considering how comfortably you can operate them from your usual riding position on the Thruxton.
• Footrests: secure foot support matters when moving on the bike through a sequence of bends. On a café racer, it is worth considering the relationship between your feet and hands, rather than treating foot position separately, particularly when weekend rides stretch into longer days.
• Screens: motorway stretches on the way to quieter roads can make wind protection worthwhile. A screen can help ease wind pressure on your upper body, with its shape and height influencing the balance between shelter and the Thruxton’s classic sporting appearance.
• Mirrors: these make a noticeable difference to a café racer’s outline, but their everyday job remains important. If you switch between busy streets and open roads, a useful rearward view from your normal riding position should carry as much weight as appearance.
• Crash bobbins and crash bars: these are intended to limit damage in certain falls or minor impacts. They are particularly relevant when the Thruxton is used for daily journeys involving parking spaces and low-speed manoeuvres, rather than reserved solely for weekend outings.

For mixed commuting and leisure riding, start by considering the contact points. Wind protection becomes a stronger priority if reaching your favourite bends involves longer stretches of fast road.
