Accessories for the Yamaha FJR1300

The Yamaha FJR1300 is a sports tourer suited to long road journeys, weekends away and travelling with a pillion. Choosing accessories for it is largely about how you spend those miles: motorway stretches put wind protection high on the list, while touring for several days brings luggage and riding position into focus. Useful additions should support that balance between covering distance and enjoying the roads along the way.

What riders usually fit to the Yamaha FJR1300

• Windscreens: help manage wind exposure on sustained motorway runs. For long-distance riding on the FJR1300, consider coverage alongside your seated height, keeping a clear view of the road as much a priority as shelter from the airflow.
• Cases: provide space for clothing and travel essentials when a day out becomes a longer tour. They are particularly useful with a pillion, giving both riders room for their belongings without relying on a backpack throughout the journey.
• Handlebar accessories: address the area that shapes your hand position and upper-body posture. On a touring motorcycle such as the FJR1300, that relationship matters over hours in the saddle rather than just the first few minutes of a ride.
• Levers: deserve attention if your trips combine open roads with busy towns on the way to your accommodation. Comfortable brake and clutch operation is especially relevant when the final part of a long riding day involves frequent stops.
• Crash bobbins and bars: can help limit damage from a stationary drop or low-speed fall. Touring often means manoeuvring with luggage and parking somewhere unfamiliar, making this protection a practical consideration for a travel-focused FJR1300.

For two-up trips, work out what both of you need to carry before choosing cases. If you mostly ride day routes, wind protection and riding position may deserve attention before extra luggage capacity.
