Accessories for the Yamaha FJR1300AE

The Yamaha FJR1300AE is a sports tourer suited to long road journeys, weekend escapes and trips with a pillion. Spending whole days in the saddle puts wind protection and riding position high on the list of priorities. Accessories from brands including Puig and Givi give you options for focusing on comfort and protection, whether your routes favour motorway miles or winding country roads.

What riders usually fit to the Yamaha FJR1300AE

• Screens: sustained motorway riding makes airflow a bigger consideration than it is on short local runs. A screen helps deflect wind away from your body. Your height and normal riding position are useful starting points when deciding how much coverage suits your touring.
• Handlebars: the position of your hands helps shape your posture throughout a long journey. For an FJR1300AE used for touring, this area deserves attention when seeking relaxed road comfort while retaining a comfortable reach for town riding and low-speed manoeuvres.
• Levers: a touring day often finishes with busy streets rather than an open road. Comfortable reach and feel at the controls matter when you encounter queues and repeated stops, particularly after several hours of riding to your destination.
• Footrests: where and how your feet rest affects your leg position over distance. On this sports tourer, footrests are worth considering both for settled motorway cruising and for secure footing when the route turns into a succession of bends.
• Crash bobbins and bars: these help limit damage from a stationary drop or a low-speed fall. They are particularly relevant if touring regularly takes you into unfamiliar parking areas, where tight turns and stops with a pillion call for extra care.

For predominantly long-distance use, start with wind protection and the places where your body meets the bike. If urban riding features heavily between trips, give low-speed protection similar attention.
