Accessories for the Yamaha MT-01

The Yamaha MT-01 is a naked road bike for winding-road outings as well as everyday journeys. Accessories for that mix of riding have two useful priorities: tailoring your riding position and managing wind exposure on longer stretches. Whether you spend more time crossing town or heading out for an afternoon ride, changes around the bars and a screen can serve a practical purpose beyond altering the bike's appearance.

What riders usually fit to the Yamaha MT-01

• Levers: frequent clutch and brake use in town makes the shape and reach of the controls worth considering. Different lever designs can help tailor the contact with your fingers, keeping the focus on how you operate the MT-01 rather than looks alone.
• Handlebars: bar shape influences where your hands sit and how your arms and torso are positioned. On the MT-01, this makes handlebars relevant both to low-speed steering around town and to the posture you maintain during longer road rides.
• Screens: sustained road speeds make wind pressure more noticeable on a naked bike. A screen helps redirect airflow, making it a useful addition when motorway or dual-carriageway stretches sit between home and your favourite winding roads.
• Mirrors: these can change the view behind you from your normal riding position as well as the appearance of the bike. For an MT-01 used in urban traffic, a useful rearward view deserves priority over a particularly compact outline.
• Protectors: these help limit damage to the areas they cover in a fall. For a road-going naked bike, they are a practical consideration for mishaps during slow manoeuvres or while moving the bike into a parking space.

For mainly urban riding, focus first on the controls and rearward visibility. If your usual route includes longer open-road sections, wind protection becomes a more useful part of the setup.
