Accessories for the Yamaha MT-09 SP

The Yamaha MT-09 SP is a sporty naked bike suited to twisty-road rides as well as everyday journeys. Those two uses give you a useful starting point for choosing accessories: wind protection matters on longer runs, exposed areas benefit from protection, and the way your hands and feet meet the bike deserves attention when riding takes priority over appearance.

What riders usually fit to the Yamaha MT-09 SP

• Screens: a naked bike leaves you exposed to the airflow, particularly on motorway stretches between favourite roads. A screen helps redirect some of that air, making it a worthwhile consideration when your MT-09 SP regularly heads out on longer weekend rides.
• Handlebars and levers: these help tailor the riding position and your interaction with the controls. On a bike used for both winding roads and commuting, hand position and lever reach matter during repeated braking as well as frequent clutch use in traffic.
• Protectors and crash protection: these can help limit damage to the areas they cover if the bike falls. They make sense on an exposed naked bike that sees both spirited road riding and the less glamorous business of parking and low-speed manoeuvres.
• Footpegs: secure foot support is worth thinking about when you move around on the bike through a sequence of bends. This contact point also shapes your riding posture on the steadier stretches linking those roads together.
• Number plate holders: changing the holder is one way to alter the rear-end styling. For an MT-09 SP used mainly for day rides, this is an appearance-focused option rather than an addition aimed at longer-distance travel.

Choosing parts for your MT-09 SP's year

The MT-09 SP has changed over the years, with 2018-2020, 2021-2023 and 2024-2026 versions to consider. Parts such as handlebars, screens and foot controls therefore do not necessarily fit across all three versions.
