Accessories for the Yamaha MT-09 Street Rally

The Yamaha MT-09 Street Rally is a naked bike suited to winding-road rides as well as everyday journeys. The most useful additions depend on how you divide your time between the two. A short commute puts the focus on frequently used controls and protection, while longer weekend rides bring wind exposure and riding position into the picture.

What riders usually fit to the Yamaha MT-09 Street Rally

• Handlebars and levers: these shape how you interact with the bike throughout a ride. Stop-start traffic means repeated use of the controls, so a comfortable hand position matters. On winding roads, the handlebar position also affects how you hold your arms and upper body.
• Protectors and crash bungs: useful when your Street Rally doubles as daily transport, with regular parking and low-speed manoeuvres. They can help limit damage to the areas they cover in a fall, making them a practical consideration before spending time on cosmetic changes.
• Screens: worth considering if reaching your favourite roads involves a stretch of motorway or dual carriageway. A screen helps deflect some of the airflow away from your body, addressing an obvious concern when longer distances form part of your naked-bike riding.
• Footrests: your feet provide an important point of support when riding through bends. Think about the footrests and handlebars together, since both contribute to your riding position. That balance matters when the same bike handles short urban trips and longer days out.
• Number plate holders: an option for changing the visual finish around the tail, which is a noticeable part of a naked bike’s outline. On the Street Rally, this is primarily a styling choice rather than an addition aimed at making the daily commute more comfortable.
