Accessories for the Yamaha MT-09 Tracer

The Yamaha MT-09 Tracer brings a sports-touring approach to everyday commuting, winding-road rides and trips with a pillion. Choosing accessories starts with how you divide your time between those uses. Wind protection matters on longer journeys, luggage earns its place on weekends away, and the riding position deserves attention when the same bike handles both weekday traffic and full days on the road.

What riders usually fit to the Yamaha MT-09 Tracer

• Screens: help manage airflow during motorway stretches and longer road journeys. For a Tracer used regularly for touring, screen height and shape are worth considering alongside your own height: the aim is useful wind protection rather than simply a different look.
• Panniers: provide space for clothing and travel essentials without carrying everything in a rucksack. They make particular sense for two-up weekends, but can also carry what you need during the working week if your Tracer doubles as daily transport.
• Crash bobbins and crash bars: are intended to help limit damage in a stationary drop or low-speed fall. Urban parking, stops along an unfamiliar route and manoeuvring with luggage all make this kind of protection relevant beyond the open-road part of a touring trip.
• Levers and handlebars: frequent control use in traffic and hours spent riding place different demands on your hands and arms. Considering these parts together helps you plan a riding position that suits both short commutes and longer days away.
• Footrests: foot support matters when linking bends, while foot position also influences comfort over a long day's ride. Alongside the handlebars, footrests deserve consideration when setting up a Tracer for a mixture of sporty road riding and touring.

When adding luggage for two-up trips, leave your pillion room to get on and off and use the footrests comfortably. A touring setup should still be practical for the journeys you make between holidays.
