Accessories for the Yamaha MT-09 Y-AMT

The Yamaha MT-09 Y-AMT is a naked bike suited to everyday journeys and weekends on winding roads. Those uses call for different priorities: protection earns its place on a regular commute, while longer rides make wind exposure and riding position more noticeable. A useful starting point is to think about the journeys you actually make, rather than changing everything at once.

What riders usually fit to the Yamaha MT-09 Y-AMT

• Screens: a screen can take some of the wind pressure off your upper body on this naked bike. It is particularly useful when motorway stretches separate you from your favourite roads, or when the MT-09 Y-AMT handles a daily commute beyond town.
• Protectors and crash protection: these can help limit damage in a low-speed fall. On an MT-09 Y-AMT used throughout the working week, they address the less glamorous side of riding: awkward parking spaces, tight manoeuvres and the possibility of losing your balance at a standstill.
• Handlebars: changing the handlebar setup is a way to rethink your arm position for urban riding and twisting roads. Consider how you sit during the whole journey, including the ride home, rather than focusing only on a more purposeful look when the bike is parked.
• Footrests: foot support and leg position matter when you spend a morning moving through a succession of bends. Treat footrests and handlebars as parts of the same riding-position setup, so changes to your lower body work with the position of your arms and shoulders.
• Number plate holders: an option for a visually tidier rear end, rather than a change aimed at longer-distance comfort. The relatively uncluttered appearance of a naked bike makes this area noticeable, giving it a role when personalising your MT-09 Y-AMT for weekend rides.
