Accessories for the Yamaha Tracer 900

The Yamaha Tracer 900 brings together sports-touring, weekend rides on winding roads and everyday commuting. Accessories for that mix of riding need to do more than carry luggage. Wind protection and the points where you contact the bike also deserve attention, especially when a short daily journey gives way to a full day on the road. A useful touring setup should still make sense between trips.

What riders usually fit to the Yamaha Tracer 900

• Screens: help redirect airflow during motorway stretches and longer road journeys. For a Tracer used for touring, screen height and shape matter because they affect where the air reaches your upper body and helmet while you are seated.
• Panniers: provide room for clothing and other travel essentials without relying on a rucksack. They become particularly relevant on two-up holidays, when packing for both rider and passenger takes more planning than heading out for an afternoon on country roads.
• Crash protection: crash bobbins and bars help limit damage in a stationary or low-speed fall. Moving a luggage-laden Tracer around a parking area, stopping on a slope and making frequent sightseeing stops are all situations where that protection has a practical role.
• Levers: commuting traffic and twisting roads both mean frequent use of the brake and clutch. Lever shape and reach matter to the way your fingers meet the controls, making this an ergonomic consideration rather than simply a styling change.
• Footrests: support your feet through long seated stretches as well as sequences of bends. On a bike used for both touring and shorter outings, their shape and contact surface are worth considering as part of your riding position.

For regular road trips, start your planning around wind protection and luggage. If commuting fills most of the week, give the controls and crash protection equal consideration.
