Accessories for the Yamaha X-City 125

The Yamaha X-City 125 is a scooter suited to everyday travel. Whether you ride it to work, use it for errands or cross town regularly, the details that matter are not limited to the time you spend moving. Where you park and how often you stop also shape what is worth fitting. Some accessories make a journey more comfortable; others come into their own when the scooter is left unattended.

What riders usually fit to the Yamaha X-City 125

• Security devices: these are particularly relevant if your X-City 125 spends part of the working day parked on the street, or if you make frequent stops. An Artago or Urban device can become part of your routine whenever you leave the scooter.
• Screens: a screen can take some of the direct wind off you on wider roads and routes into town. That matters if your daily ride involves more than short hops between traffic lights and you spend a sustained stretch in the saddle.
• Covers and leg covers: a Tucano Urbano leg cover is worth considering if you keep riding through colder weather. A cover serves a different purpose: protecting the scooter while it is parked rather than making the ride itself more comfortable.
• Exhausts: changing the exhaust is an option if you want a different sound from your X-City 125. Unlike a screen or leg cover, this is less about coping with the commute and more about how you want the scooter to feel when you ride it.
• Handlebar accessories: town riding involves repeated turns, stops and low-speed manoeuvres. What you fit around the handlebar can help tailor that point of contact to the way you sit and steer on your usual routes.

If you ride most days, start with the conditions you encounter most often: wind on the way in, colder journeys or the need to secure the scooter when you park.
