Accessories for YAMAHA XJ6

Accessories for the Yamaha XJ6

The Yamaha XJ6 is a road-going naked bike suited to weekday commuting and weekend rides. How you split your time between town and open roads helps decide which accessories earn their place. Wind protection becomes more useful on longer journeys, while your riding position and protection against low-speed mishaps matter in everyday use. A bike used mainly for short urban trips calls for different priorities from one that regularly spends an afternoon on winding roads.

What riders usually fit to the Yamaha XJ6

• Screens: worth considering when your commute involves motorway miles or your weekend routes take you onto exposed roads. On a naked XJ6, a screen helps redirect airflow away from your upper body, making wind protection more relevant as journeys get longer.
• Handlebars and levers: put the focus on your hand position and access to the controls. Regular clutch and brake use in stop-start traffic makes this area particularly important on a commuter XJ6, alongside a comfortable reach to the bars for longer outings.
• Protectors and crash bungs: a practical priority if your XJ6 spends its days in parking spaces and regularly negotiates tight manoeuvres. These accessories can help limit damage to the areas they protect during a stationary drop or a low-speed fall.
• Footpegs: your foot position contributes to the overall riding posture, whether you are crossing town or following a winding country road. For an XJ6 used for both, leg position and comfort over several hours deserve as much attention as appearance.
• Number plate holders: an option for riders who want a tidier-looking rear end rather than extra touring equipment. They suit a restrained styling update that keeps the XJ6's naked-bike character at the centre of the finished look.

For commuting mixed with longer rides, start with riding position, protection and wind exposure. Cosmetic changes can then complement a setup built around the journeys you actually make.
