Accessories for the Yamaha XJ6 Diversion

The Yamaha XJ6 Diversion is a versatile road bike suited to commuting, weekend outings and longer trips on tarmac. An accessory setup for daily traffic will have different priorities from one intended for hours on open roads. Wind protection, your riding position and protection against low-speed mishaps are useful starting points when the same bike has to cover both roles.

What riders usually fit to the Yamaha XJ6 Diversion

• Screens: For motorway stretches and longer weekend rides, a screen helps redirect airflow away from the rider. Its height and profile influence where that air reaches your body, making wind protection worth considering when your Diversion regularly spends extended periods at road speeds.
• Handlebars and levers: The bars influence your arm and wrist position, while the levers provide your contact with the brake and clutch controls. On a Diversion used for both stop-start commuting and days away, a comfortable reach matters throughout the ride, not just when sitting on the bike.
• Protectors and crash bungs: Daily use often involves tight parking spaces, awkward turns and frequent stops. These accessories can help limit some damage if the bike tips over at a standstill or at low speed, although they cannot prevent every part from being damaged.
• Footrests: Secure foot support matters as you shift your position through bends on a weekend route. For an XJ6 Diversion that also covers longer distances, it needs to work alongside a comfortable leg position rather than making the riding posture unnecessarily cramped.
• Phone mounts: Navigation is useful when exploring unfamiliar roads or finding an address across town. A mount should position the phone without obscuring the instruments or restricting handlebar movement; set your destination before getting under way.

For regular longer journeys, prioritise airflow and riding comfort. If most of your miles involve urban traffic and parking, controls and protection deserve attention first.
