Accessories for the Yamaha XJ6 SP

Weekday commuting and weekend rides on winding roads both suit the Yamaha XJ6 SP's naked-bike character. The right priorities depend on how you divide your time between them. Wind protection becomes more useful on longer stretches of open road, while low-speed protection and a comfortable riding position have a clear role in everyday town use.

What riders usually fit to the Yamaha XJ6 SP

• Screens: A screen helps deflect some of the airflow reaching your upper body. On the naked XJ6 SP, it is worth considering when your routes involve sustained open-road riding rather than mostly short trips through town.
• Protectors and crash protection: These accessories aim to limit damage to parts of the bike in a fall. For an XJ6 SP used as a daily commuter, the practical focus is often slow parking manoeuvres and moving the bike around a garage.
• Handlebars and levers: Stop-start traffic means frequent use of the controls, while a weekend ride keeps you in the saddle for longer. These parts let you address hand position and the relationship between your riding posture and the controls.
• Footrests: Foot support matters on a winding-road ride, but it also shapes how comfortable you feel on the journey to work. Consider the footrests alongside the handlebars when planning the riding position on an XJ6 SP that serves both purposes.
• Number plate holders: An option for changing the rear-end appearance of this naked bike. They make sense when you are already happy with the riding position and want your next changes to focus on styling rather than wind protection or comfort.

Think of the handlebars, levers and footrests as a connected setup: altering one contact point can affect how the rest of your riding position feels.
