Accessories for the Yamaha XJR1200

The Yamaha XJR1200 is a classic-style naked that suits everyday journeys as well as days out on country roads. Deciding how to equip yours starts with the riding you actually do: regular town trips, longer open-road runs or weekends away with luggage. Wind protection, riding position and practical carrying space each deserve a different emphasis, while the bike’s classic appearance remains part of its appeal.

What riders usually fit to the Yamaha XJR1200

• Screens: spending longer stretches on open roads makes wind pressure more noticeable on a naked bike. A screen helps redirect airflow around your upper body, making it a useful addition when setting up the XJR1200 for longer rides rather than predominantly urban use.
• Handlebars and levers: these help shape your interaction with the bike when switching between traffic and winding roads. Handlebar choice affects arm and wrist position, while the levers are central to brake and clutch operation during the repeated stops and starts of town riding.
• Protectors: exposed components are part of a naked bike’s layout, so protection is worth considering on an XJR1200 used for daily journeys and frequent parking manoeuvres. Protectors can help limit damage to the areas they cover, rather than making the whole bike damage-proof.
• Mirrors: their shape makes a noticeable difference to the XJR1200’s front-end appearance, particularly when keeping a traditional look. They also serve an everyday purpose in traffic, giving you a view behind while sitting prominently alongside the handlebars on this classic naked.
• Luggage cases: useful when a short country-road ride becomes a weekend away. Carrying your belongings on the XJR1200 rather than in a rucksack leaves your back free, making luggage a practical consideration for riders who use the bike for more than day trips.
