Accessories for the Yamaha XSR900 GP

The Yamaha XSR900 GP brings retro styling to sporty road riding, so useful additions need not compete with its character. For weekends on winding roads, the main priorities are comfortable contact with the controls and support as you move on the bike. Longer connecting stretches make wind protection worthwhile, while everyday urban use gives protective accessories a practical role.

What riders usually fit to the Yamaha XSR900 GP

• Screens: help deflect airflow on the faster roads between your favourite stretches of bends. For this kind of sporty road use, consider wind coverage in your normal riding position, rather than judging a screen only by how it works when you tuck down behind it.
• Protectors and crash bobbins: can help limit damage to exposed areas during a stationary fall or low-speed mishap. They are particularly relevant when your XSR900 GP doubles as weekday transport, with regular parking manoeuvres as well as weekend rides out of town.
• Levers: deserve attention when a route involves repeated braking and gear changes. Their shape and reach affect how comfortably you operate the controls with gloves on, making the feel at your fingertips more useful on twisty roads than a purely cosmetic change.
• Footrests: provide an important point of contact when moving your body through a sequence of bends. For sporty road rides, the aim is a supportive foothold without overlooking comfort on the less demanding miles that take you to and from those roads.
• Number plate holders: offer a way to change the presentation of the plate and tidy the rear profile. On the XSR900 GP, their appeal is mainly visual: complementing the retro sporting look once the controls, foot support and wind protection suit your road riding.
