Accessories for the Yamaha XT1200Z Super Ténéré

Long road journeys and occasional detours onto unpaved tracks are natural territory for the Yamaha XT1200Z Super Ténéré. This adventure touring motorcycle can also handle the daily commute, so its accessories should reflect how you actually spend your riding time. Travelling with a pillion puts luggage space high on the list, while mixed-surface trips bring protection and your riding position into sharper focus.

What riders usually fit to the Yamaha XT1200Z Super Ténéré

• Luggage: carrying clothes and travel essentials on the bike rather than your back makes sense on a multi-day tour. With a pillion aboard, having room for two people's belongings becomes a priority. Cases can also carry your everyday items between longer trips.
• Screens: useful when motorway stretches link the more interesting parts of your route. A screen helps divert airflow on long road days, but taller is not automatically more suitable: your height and seated position matter, as does a clear view of the ground when riding tracks.
• Crash bars and protectors: help shield exposed areas during a low-speed fall. For a Super Ténéré used beyond surfaced roads, that protection is particularly relevant on uneven access tracks or when manoeuvring with touring luggage on board.
• Footrests: provide an important contact point when switching between seated road riding and standing on tracks. Think about how your adventure boots sit on them and the support you need in both positions, rather than considering only the hours spent in the saddle.
• Handlebars: influence your reach to the controls and the position of your arms and upper body. For mixed road and trail use, the aim is a comfortable seated stance without having to stoop awkwardly when you stand on the footrests.

For mostly two-up touring, give luggage and wind protection priority. If your routes regularly leave the tarmac, allow equal thought to protection and the way you sit and stand on the bike.
