Accessories for the BMW F 450 GS

The BMW F 450 GS is an adventure bike suited to everyday commuting, weekend road rides and exploring unsurfaced tracks. Those different jobs call for different priorities: wind protection on longer journeys, protection for exposed areas away from the tarmac, and somewhere to carry your belongings without wearing a rucksack. Accessories from brands including Puig and SW-Motech let you focus on the journeys you actually make.

What riders usually fit to the BMW F 450 GS

• Screens: motorway stretches and full days on the road make wind protection particularly useful. A screen helps reduce the airflow reaching your upper body. For mixed road and trail riding, balance that coverage against having a clear view of the ground ahead.
• Protectors and crash bars: these help limit damage to the areas they cover during a stationary drop or an impact. They make particular sense when your rides include unsurfaced tracks, where a slow-speed manoeuvre can end with the bike tipping over.
• Levers: stop-start traffic means frequent use of the controls, while longer rides put the focus on hand comfort. Lever shape and reach matter when your F 450 GS needs to handle both the daily commute and a weekend spent on winding roads.
• Phone mounts: keeping your phone secured for navigation is useful when linking unfamiliar back roads or finding an address in town. Set the route before moving off, so you can follow directions without handling the phone while riding.
• Luggage: carrying everyday essentials to work is a different task from packing for several nights away. Luggage gives you an alternative to a rucksack for both, with the amount you need to carry determining how you equip the bike for commuting or touring.
