Accessories for the BMW F 650 GS

The BMW F 650 GS suits riders who combine everyday journeys with road touring and occasional outings on unpaved tracks. As an adventure bike used for different kinds of riding, it benefits from a focused approach to accessories: luggage for nights away, wind protection for longer road sections and protection for ventures beyond the tarmac.

What riders usually fit to the BMW F 650 GS

• Luggage: cases give clothing and overnight essentials a place on the bike rather than on your back. For an F 650 GS that doubles as weekday transport, they can also carry the things you need for your daily journeys.
• Screens: wind protection becomes more useful when a weekend ride includes long motorway stretches. A screen helps deflect airflow, making it a sensible priority for an F 650 GS used mainly for road touring.
• Crash protectors and bars: worth considering when your routes mix tarmac with loose-surface tracks. They help limit damage in a low-speed fall, including the sort of tip-over that can happen while manoeuvring a bike loaded for a trip.
• Footrests: these provide support as you move between sitting on the road and standing on the pegs along a track. That change in riding position matters when setting up your F 650 GS for mixed-surface outings.
• Handlebars: hand position affects your riding posture both on longer road journeys and when standing off-road. Riders who regularly switch between the two should consider both positions when choosing a bar.

Why the year of your BMW F 650 GS matters

The BMW F 650 GS has changed over the years, so the 2004-2007 and 2008-2012 versions do not always take the same parts. Footrests, handlebars and screens are examples of accessories that will not fit every version. Select your bike's year on this page to see only the parts that fit yours.

For touring, start with carrying capacity and wind protection. If tracks feature regularly in your routes, give protection and support for standing riding equal consideration.
