Accessories for the BMW K 1200 R Sport

The BMW K 1200 R Sport combines a sporting road focus with scope for longer outings. Setting it up is therefore about more than appearance. Wind exposure on faster roads, protection during everyday manoeuvres and somewhere to carry your belongings all deserve attention, depending on whether your riding centres on winding routes, commuting or weekends away.

What riders usually fit to the BMW K 1200 R Sport

• Screens: worth considering when your favourite roads involve a motorway journey to reach them. A screen helps manage airflow around your upper body, so its shape and height matter in relation to the riding position you use over longer distances.
• Protectors: help limit damage to the areas they cover in minor falls. For a K 1200 R Sport used around town as well as on open roads, their practical value includes those awkward moments when parking or manoeuvring at a standstill.
• Mirrors: a useful rearward view matters when moving between urban junctions and country-road overtakes. On a bike used for both, mirror position and visibility deserve more attention than appearance alone, particularly if your regular rides involve frequent lane changes.
• Levers: repeated clutch and brake use in traffic makes these contact points noticeable before you even reach the bends. Their shape and reach influence how comfortably your fingers meet the controls, making them relevant to both commuting and longer road rides.
• Luggage: gives weekend trips more scope than travelling with just pocket essentials. When preparing this BMW for time away, think about what you need to carry on the journey, as well as leaving suitable room for a pillion if you ride together.

Start with the parts of your regular journeys you would like to improve. Occasional touring needs can then be addressed without letting them dictate your whole everyday setup.
