Accessories for the Ducati Monster 800

City journeys and weekends on winding roads call for slightly different priorities when fitting accessories to the Ducati Monster 800. This naked bike suits both uses, so a sensible setup starts with how you actually ride it. Your riding position, protection during low-speed manoeuvres and comfort on longer outings all deserve consideration before you focus on changing its appearance.

What riders usually fit to the Ducati Monster 800

• Handlebars: bar shape and height affect your reach and the position of your wrists and shoulders. For a Monster used for commuting as well as weekend rides, the aim is a position that feels manageable in traffic without becoming tiring when the journey takes you further out of town.
• Protectors: parking spaces, tight turns and stop-start traffic make low-speed handling part of everyday life on an urban Monster. Protectors can help limit damage to the areas they cover if the bike goes over, although they cannot prevent every kind of damage or replace careful handling.
• Mirrors: a useful rearward view matters when moving between lanes on city roads. Mirrors also influence the Monster’s appearance, but their position should work with your riding posture: a tidy-looking setup is less useful if your arms obscure much of what you need to see behind.
• Suspension: worth considering if your favourite winding roads have uneven surfaces, or if you switch between solo rides and carrying a pillion. Suspension response affects comfort and how the road feels through the bike, making it a functional priority rather than simply a visual change.

Treat the handlebars, controls and mirrors as a complete arrangement. Changing your reach to the bars also means thinking about where the other parts will sit.
