Accessories for the Honda XL650V Transalp

The Honda XL650V Transalp is an adventure bike suited to everyday journeys, road touring and occasional outings on straightforward unpaved tracks. That mix makes wind protection, riding position and protection against low-speed drops sensible priorities. A Transalp used for commuting benefits from a different approach to one that regularly heads away for several days, particularly when some of the route leaves the tarmac.

What riders usually fit to the Honda XL650V Transalp

• Windscreens: worth prioritising for touring and regular motorway journeys, where prolonged exposure to the wind can become tiring. Screen height and shape matter alongside your height and seated position, rather than simply choosing the largest screen for your Transalp.
• Crash bars and protectors: useful when your rides involve tracks, gravel parking areas or awkward low-speed turns. They can help limit damage in a stationary or low-speed drop, making them a practical addition for exploring beyond surfaced roads rather than a purely visual change.
• Handlebars: the position of your hands matters on both the daily commute and longer touring days. Accessories in this area can help tailor your riding position, with seated road riding and occasional standing on the pegs both worth considering for mixed-surface use.
• Footrests: give some thought to foot support if your Transalp regularly switches between roads and tracks. A comfortable position matters over long distances, while a suitable platform becomes particularly useful when standing on the pegs to ride across uneven ground.
• Stands: a practical consideration for a Transalp covering plenty of miles between weekends away. Maintenance stands help with cleaning and chain care between rides, while side-stand support deserves attention if your regular stopping places include uneven or unpaved surfaces.

For road-focused touring, start with wind protection and riding position. For more frequent track use, put greater emphasis on protection and foot support.
