Accessories for the Kawasaki GPZ900R

The Kawasaki GPZ900R is a classic sports bike suited to winding-road rides and weekends away. Those uses put the focus on riding position, protection and suspension, with luggage becoming more useful as the distance grows. A bike taken out for an afternoon on country roads has different priorities from one carrying your belongings for several days, so it helps to think about the rides you have planned.

What riders usually fit to the Kawasaki GPZ900R

• Handlebars: hand position deserves attention when a sports bike doubles as your companion for longer road rides. The handlebar affects your reach to the controls and how much weight rests on your wrists. For a GPZ900R used on day-long outings, this is an area to consider when working towards a more comfortable riding position.
• Protectors: a day on twisting roads also involves parking, fuel stops and low-speed manoeuvres. Protectors can help limit scuffs or damage from a stationary drop in the areas they cover. They are a practical addition for a GPZ900R that gets ridden regularly, rather than spending most of its time on display.
• Suspension: bumps and repeated changes of direction make suspension behaviour particularly noticeable on country roads. Suspension components are worth considering when you want a controlled response for that kind of riding. On a road-going GPZ900R, the aim is to suit the surfaces and journeys you encounter, not simply to make everything firmer.
• Luggage: an overnight stop calls for more carrying space than a short Sunday ride. Motorcycle luggage gives you somewhere for clothing and other essentials without keeping a bag on your shoulders for hours. It makes sense for a GPZ900R used for weekends away, especially when the route matters as much as the destination.
