Accessories for the Kawasaki Ninja 1100SX

The Kawasaki Ninja 1100SX is a sports tourer suited to both winding-road outings and longer trips. That mix calls for more than cosmetic changes: wind protection, comfortable contact with the controls and somewhere to carry your belongings all deserve attention. Your priorities will depend on whether the bike spends most of its time on weekend rides, commuting or travelling further afield with a pillion.

What riders usually fit to the Kawasaki Ninja 1100SX

• Screens: worth considering when a day in the bends starts with a long motorway stretch. Screen height and shape influence wind protection, so think about your own height and riding position when setting the Ninja up for touring rather than short outings.
• Protectors and crash protection: help limit damage to the areas they cover in a stationary drop or low-speed fall. They make particular sense on touring trips, when luggage and unfamiliar parking spaces can add to the challenge of manoeuvring the bike.
• Levers: reach and finger support matter on a machine that moves between urban traffic and twisty roads. For this mixed use, the way your hands meet the brake and clutch levers deserves more attention than simply matching their finish to the bodywork.
• Footrests: the foot-to-bike contact point has two roles on a sports tourer. It needs to suit your leg position over longer distances while providing a useful base as you shift your position through bends. Think about both uses together.
• Luggage cases: give clothing and travel essentials a place on multi-day trips. When touring with a pillion, plan for two people's belongings while also allowing room for your passenger to get on and off and place their feet comfortably.
