Accessories for touring on the Kawasaki Versys 1100

The Kawasaki Versys 1100 is a road-focused adventure tourer suited to long journeys and weekends exploring unfamiliar roads. A trip can mix motorway miles, winding mountain routes and riding with a pillion, so wind protection, luggage and comfortable contact points deserve attention before cosmetic finishing touches.

What riders usually fit to the Kawasaki Versys 1100

• Screens: wind protection becomes a priority when a touring route includes lengthy motorway stretches. A screen helps divert airflow away from your upper body. For long days on the Versys, consider both the coverage you want and your view of the road ahead.
• Panniers: carrying clothing and overnight essentials on the bike avoids spending the journey wearing a loaded rucksack. When two people share the Versys 1100 for a weekend away, planning luggage space and dividing the load are useful starting points for the whole touring setup.
• Crash protectors and bars: these aim to reduce damage to the areas they cover in a stationary or low-speed fall. They are worth considering for touring that involves manoeuvring around hotel parking areas and unfamiliar stopping places, particularly with luggage on board.
• Footrests: hours on the road make foot support an important part of your riding position. On a road-biased tourer such as the Versys, the support surface and where your legs sit matter during steady cruising as well as on a twisting route.
• Phone mounts: keeping navigation directions in view is useful when a journey takes you beyond familiar roads. For multi-stop touring, a mount gives your phone a dedicated place rather than leaving it in a pocket. Set the route before departure and make changes only when stopped.

If your Versys 1100 handles weekday rides as well as occasional holidays, start with wind protection and add luggage around your travel plans. Regular two-up trips make it worth thinking about packing and load distribution from the outset.
